How long has SBC been in business and what do you do?
SBC Systems has been in business for more than 30 years with the same goal and mission: to provide benefit administrators with systems that can be implemented and maintained by benefits professionals. Our product and company have evolved, and will continue to evolve, as technology changes and as benefits administration changes.
What does your software do?
Lifeworks is a complete benefits administration system capable of administering any type of pension and benefit plan. There are Employee and Manager Self-Service modules and a Billing Management solution that performs direct and premium billing.
Do I have to buy all solutions or can I pick and choose?
Lifeworks offers a wide range of functionality. You can pick all or only some of that functionality to define the solution that meets your needs.
What technology is your software written in?
Lifeworks is written on the Microsoft .Net platform and is completely Web-based. The system is accessed through a Web browser such as Internet Explorer. There is no need to load software on an end-user's computer in order to be able to use the system.
What is Software as a Service (SaaS)?
SaaS is a delivery model in which you subscribe to Lifeworks on a monthly basis. SaaS makes Lifeworks affordable and easy to operate.
See: Delivery and Support > Delivery Options > Delivered via Software as a Service (SaaS)
Can the application be installed at a client site or hosted by SBC?
Lifeworks can be installed at a customer's site or hosted by SBC on a traditional hosting contract or through our Software as a Service (SaaS) option . SaaS is a delivery model in which you subscribe to Lifeworks on a monthly basis. Whether traditional hosting or SaaS, you access Lifeworks remotely from our secure servers over the Web (just like you visit any other Web site). SBC utilises a Tier 1 facility for its hosting operation. We are ISO 9000 certified, so you can feel confident your critical data is safe.
How does support work?
SBC offers an all-inclusive support and maintenance program. You will have a single point of contact for all of a customer's needs and is responsible for all issue resolution.
Does your software integrate with external systems?
Yes. Lifeworks contains a flexible import/export engine that allows data to be loaded into the system. It also allows data to be extracted in the format required by the sending or receiving system. In addition to these flat-file interfaces, Lifeworks utilises Web services to exchange data with other systems on a real-time basis.
What services does SBC provide? Do you offer call-centre services for plan participants?
SBC provides services for our clients surrounding the implementation and support of our software. However, we do not provide call centre services for clients' plan participants, although SBC has partners who do provide such call centre services.
Does SBC supply administrative services?
No, SBC does not administer plans in the manner of an outsourcer. However many of our clients find that administrative service needs are substantially diminished though our technology and opt to administer in-house. We can provide system administration services, if that is required, whereby we wholly operate the software on behalf of our client. This service does not provide data entry or call centre services. For full outsourcing, we can partner with reputable firms who can provide those administrative services for clients.
